Online Lerning Platfotm
The journey begins with a challenge faced by modern learners—balancing professional and personal lives while striving for self-improvement. My task was to design an online learning platform, Skill Studio, that caters to individuals who are busy with work, kids, and household responsibilities but still seek expert guidance and personalized learning.

The Problem
Users are trying to align their expectations and needs with the learning platform's features. Like taking online classes to learn a new skill and keep the motivation through the process.
Users are trying to align their expectations and needs with the learning platform's features. Like taking online classes to learn a new skill and keep the motivation through the process.
The Solution
I set out to design a platform that truly engages hobbyists by first understanding their motivations and challenges. I discovered that while they’re eager to learn, staying motivated and finding the right content can be tough. With these insights, I crafted a platform that delivers personalized content, keeps users engaged, and supports them in continuously learning and growing their skills.

Interview
4 Participants
The interviews were done virtually and lasted around 15 minutes, making it a quick and efficient way to gather insights remotely.
Hobbies
Many individuals are motivated to learn new skills and make time for their hobbies, finding that this not only promotes personal growth but also helps manage stress and improve mental well-being.
Community Engagement
Users are interested in joining hobby-focused chat groups where they can share tips, advice, and inspiration. These groups become supportive spaces where people connect, learn, and grow through their shared passions.
Learning Platform
Users are interested in hobby-focused chat groups to share tips and advice. We’ll offer more live classes, recording each session, and provide flexible one-on-one classes. A standard rubric will categorize courses by beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels to match users’ skills.
Comparative
4 Learning Platforms

Many learning platforms feature excellent UI design, making them easy to navigate. With prices ranging from $29 to $70 per month, they offer a wide variety of creative, digital, and technical content. While most platforms provide certification and categorize courses by skill level, more specific filters could enhance the user experience. Not all platforms offer the ability to gift courses, which could be a valuable addition. Additionally, many support multiple languages, reaching a global audience. Despite their strengths, there's room for more personalized learning experiences.

Many users find online learning frustrating because it lacks personalized lessons, quick answers to their questions, and can be hard to stay disciplined. While they do prefer one-on-one classes, they love the flexibility and control online learning offers. So, if platforms can keep that flexibility but add more customized learning paths, they’ll create a much better experience for users.

User Flow
This diagram outlines three processes: account creation/log in, course purchase, and enrollment in "Ask the Expert Live!" It shows key steps, decision points, and alternative paths to ensure a smooth user experience for each action.
Card Sorting

An effective online learning platform should prioritize Customization and Flexibility alongside User Engagement to meet user needs and ensure long-term satisfaction. However, areas like Mental Health, Motivation, and Calendar may require more focus, as they currently lack strong integration into the learning experience. Additionally, overlapping topics such as Habits, Profile, and Progress highlight the need for a flexible, interconnected design that can adapt to cross-category user needs, promoting a seamless and holistic learning experience.

Design
Low to Mid Fidelity Wireframes
The wireframing phase was crucial for mapping out the structure and flow of Skill Studio. I started by defining the primary user journeys, focusing on how users would sign up, browse courses, enroll in live sessions, and interact with experts. My goal was to create a seamless, intuitive interface that removed any friction points in these key tasks.

Creating the brand
Building the visual identity was like crafting a puzzle, ensuring every piece—logo, typography, colors—worked together to convey both professionalism and approachability. The end result was a brand that felt empowering, welcoming, and perfectly aligned with the mission of helping users unlock their potential.

High Fidelity and Prototyping
The high-fidelity and prototyping phase was where the design truly came to life. Since research showed that most users would access the platform via desktop, I focused on creating a design optimized for that experience. After refining the wireframes, I incorporated the brand’s color palette, typography, and UI elements

TEST
Usability Test
The usability testing phase was crucial for validating the design and ensuring it met user needs. I conducted tests primarily with desktop users, as the platform was optimized for that experience.

Creating an Account
Users found this task simple, with clear login and sign-up options and intuitive input fields.
Purchasing a Course
The process was smooth, but some users were confused by the unclear credit card section labeling, suggesting a clearer title.
Signing Up for 'Ask the Expert Live!'
Users suggested organizing time slots by AM/PM and found the 'Ask a Question' section unclear. The 'Send' button was often missed, and the orange feedback outline should be changed to green for better clarity.
Usability Feedback

Create a dedicated section for live experts on the homepage to make it easy for users to find and engage with them.

Modify the time display to only show the time after the user has selected a date, reducing confusion about available time slots.

Label the credit card section clearly and change the color of the 'Pay' button to make it more noticeable and prevent it from being overlooked.

Design the booking section to remain visible (sticky) while users scroll down the page, ensuring easy access to booking options at all times.

Enhance the visual feedback for the input field by changing the feedback color from orange to green for positive confirmation, making it more intuitive.
Change the 'Add to Calendar' button to 'Next' from the question pop-up to simplify the user interface and reduce distractions.
Final Project

Prototype
This project challenged me to think critically about user needs and the importance of real-time interaction in online learning. By incorporating expert feedback and designing for flexibility, Skill Studio became a platform that not only fits into the busy lives of learners but also provides the support they need to succeed.

Digital Magic Maker!
Digital Magic Maker!
Hey there!
I’m Sofía Zuñiga, a proud ¨"tica" who swapped the beaches of Pura Vida in Costa Rica for the mountains of Utah, USA. Growing up in a world bursting with color and good vibes, I’ve always had a thing for beautiful layouts, bold textures, and making things look just right. But don’t be fooled by the creative chaos—my organized mind keeps everything in check! I started in graphic design and web development but soon found my sweet spot in UX/UI design. It’s like a perfect recipe—mixing my love for creativity with my knack for problem-solving.
For me, it’s all about the details—whether I’m designing wireframes, building prototypes, or creating standout branding. I’m all about making my clients feel heard and happy while staying ahead of the curve with the latest design trends and tech updates. At the end of the day, I just want to create designs that bring a smile to people’s faces.
I’m a total tech geek at heart and feel like I was born at just the right time! Empathy is my superpower, and I’m all about seeing things from other people’s perspectives (sometimes too much, but hey, it works!). I love analyzing every angle of a situation to get the best solution. When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen whipping up some baked goodies and styling them as if they belong in a magazine—I find baking and photography almost as satisfying as creating the perfect user flow.
